I have revised my talk on road safety. I now call it “Proactive Driving”.
Proactive Driving = Defensive Driving + Alert Anticipation.
The 3S model creates a link through the talk : how speed, space and surprise combine to increase the risk of a crash. And what one can do proactively to stay in control. There are 5 case studies using real-life videos ( cctv / dashcam footage ) that I use. The aim is not to find the person who made the mistake, but to understand how one can prevent the crash – looking at what each of the road users could potentially do.
In March last year, I had given a talk at Harman International. So I was very happy when they reached out to me to do this talk to a broader group covering Bangalore and Pune. About 65 people attended the talk.
They also conducted a caption contest. Here are some fine responses to the two pictures.
