It gives us tremendous pleasure to announce the recipient of The Dr Arundhati Tambwekar Award for Excellence in Pathology for the year 2024- 2025. This year the Gold Medal goes to Dr Sharon Christo Junepet.
Dr Sharon grew up in Tirunelveli and completed her schooling at Sarah Tucker Higher Secondary School, Palayamkottai, Tirunelveli. Having completed her MBBS in Thoothukudi Government Medical College, Tamil Nadu, she joined Christian Medical College Vellore in 2022. Dr Junepet is currently working as a Senior Resident in the Department of General Pathology at CMC.
Her interests include gastrointestinal pathology, clinical pathology, cytology and molecular pathology.
Besides having these academics interests, she loves cooking and listening to music!
She says, for her, pathology is more than just diagnostics; it is a quiet form of service where accuracy saves lives. The challenge of interpreting complex cases and the satisfaction of contributing to patient outcomes, sometimes even without direct interaction make pathology not just her specialty but her calling too! Her future plans are focused on building a strong foundation in diagnostic practice, contributing to academics and research advancements, and exploring opportunities in digital and molecular pathology.
